West Virginia team grows to help more Mountaineers go solar
- Solar United Neighbors
I’m Cory Chase, and I joined Solar United Neighbors of West Virginia as the new Program Associate in late 2023. In this role, I’ll be implementing solar programs across the state. I work on building partnerships, organizing events and projects, and providing assistance to those interested in going solar.
I grew up in the mountains of Canaan Valley, WV, and have a background in nonprofits and organizing. I’m passionate about environmental justice and addressing the impacts of energy “sacrifice zones” like West Virginia and Appalachia. I worked my tail off campaigning for the WV House of Delegates in 2018 and 2020. I believe that solar power is a wise way for rural Americans to gain more energy independence and resiliency.
I currently live in beautiful Dryfork, WV. When I’m not working at SUN, I enjoy playing drums in a surf rock band. My hobbies include gardening, permaculture, preserving food, and recreating outdoors around Tucker County with my daughter and our blue heeler. I also volunteer for Company 30, the Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
I’m very glad to be joining the West Virginia team! If you have questions about going solar, you can reach out to me at cchase@solarunitedneighbors.org.
