2023 Tucson Solar Co-op selects Icon Power to serve group
The 2023 Tucson Solar Co-op has selected Icon Power to install solar panels for the 135-member group. Co-op members selected Icon Power through a competitive bidding process over five other firms. The group will hold a final virtual public Solar 101 on Monday, April 3rd at 6 p.m. to educate the community about solar and the co-op process.
“We are very excited to be selected as the solar provider for the 2023 Tucson co-op. We know how thoroughly they reviewed each bid,” said Jordan Bastian, Co-Owner of Icon Power. “The city of Tucson is one of the sunniest in the country and we are eager to help more people go solar by providing quality panels and customer service at a good price.”
Solar United Neighbors expands access to solar by educating Tucson residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar installations, and strengthening Arizona solar policies and its community of solar supporters.
Co-op members selected Icon Power because of their competitive pricing, experience with solar co-ops, and wide range of quality products.
“I was very impressed with how Solar United Neighbors prepared for the installer selection meeting and how my fellow committee members dug into the bids to bring up the strengths and weaknesses of the offerings,” said Bob Stieger, a member of the 2023 Tucson Solar Co-op who volunteered on the installer selection committee. “I am very comfortable with the thorough process that resulted in selecting Icon Power as the installer.”
“I am excited to work with Icon Power as I believe they provided the best overall value (kWh pricing, equipment options, installation times and customer satisfaction),” said Pankaj Gupta, another 2023 Tucson Solar Co-op member who volunteered on the installer selection committee. “I really enjoyed the opportunity to review bids as part of the selection committee. I also appreciated having the support of a group as some members conducted very thorough evaluations, which makes my decision a lot easier as I go through this process.”
“I am excited to work with Icon Power and see how much I can save with my system,” said Jean Loney, a member of the 2023 Tucson Solar Co-op who volunteered on the installer selection committee. “I really enjoyed the opportunity to review bids as part of the selection committee and appreciate having the support of a group as I go through this process.”
The co-op is open to new members until April 7. Tucson area residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at solarunitedneighbors.org/tucson2023.
The solar co-op is free to join and joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Icon Power will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, members can save on the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group members and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.
