SUN is dedicated to making solar energy accessible and affordable for everyone. With the support of a local donor, we are offering limited financial assistance to 4 income-qualified homeowners to go solar in the 2025 Tucson Solar Co-op. If this does not apply to you, please skip to the form below to sign up for the co-op and select “No” for the first question. If you believe you may qualify, please review the eligibility criteria and select “Yes” when asked about the income qualified solar program. 

Who is eligible to participate in the income-based assistance program?

Eligible homeowners must meet the following criteria:

• Tucson metro-area resident 
• Own and occupy the home as a primary residence
• Roof of the home is ready for solar and does not require a new roof
• Household gross annual income (before taxes) is at or below 130% Area Median Income

Household Size and Income LImit 

Signing up isn’t a binding commitment to go solar with the group, however we ask that you’re fairly certain you want to pursue a solar installation for your property. We’ll use the information you provide to pre-assess the suitability of solar for your site and to contact you about next steps for the solar co-op.

Installer Selected?

Installer Selection Criteria

We will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to area installers to get bids on behalf of the group. In the RFP we will request that they provide information on price, system components, warranties, resumes, references, and information on their business. To ensure that your preferences are considered during the installer selection process please select the most important criteria below.

When looking for a solar installer, it is important to me that they:*

Terms and Conditions

• Completing this form does not bind you financially and does not obligate you to proceed with installation and/or financing.
• You can withdraw from participating in the co-op up until you’ve signed a contract with your solar installer. Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is not liable in any way if you do.
• SUN collects a $600 fee for each homeowner that goes solar. This fee is charged to the co-op’s selected solar installation company. You are not charged the fee or any other fees by SUN.
• SUN does not have a preferred relationship, marketing agreement, or partnership with any solar installation company. The fee we charge the installer that the group selects is standard, regardless of installation company, but is subject to change over time.
• You are eligible to participate on the Selection Committee. The Committee is made up of co-op members and will evaluate all submitted bids and will choose a solar company the Committee believes is best suited for their solar co-op. SUN does not have a vote on the Committee and will not be responsible for the final decision to select the solar installation company.
• If you choose to install solar, the contract you sign will be between you and the solar installation company only; SUN will not be a party to that contract. SUN may offer you assistance in reviewing your proposal, answering questions, or communicating with the installer, but is not be liable for any assistance provided. You are solely responsible for all payments and all other obligations of the buyer or customer under the agreement with the installer. This includes, but is not limited to, any financing applications and payments, and any renewable energy credit agreements. You should refer to your contract with your installer for a complete list of your obligations under your contract with your installer.
• SUN will have no responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement, or removal of solar equipment installed at your property, or any damage or injury to, or caused by, the solar equipment or solar installers working at your property.
• You acknowledge and agree that, in organizing a solar co-op, SUN is not acting as your agent, is not in joint partnership with you, and owes no fiduciary duties to you.
• By signing this agreement you agree to hold harmless and indemnify SUN and the volunteer members of the Selection Committee from and against any and all disputes, claims, injuries, losses, or concerns related to your solar installation process or equipment, including claims arising as the result of the negligence, gross negligence, or willful misconduct of SUN and the Selection Committee. You also agree to hold harmless and indemnify any and all entities assisting in the selection, review and financing of your solar installation.
• You agree that SUN makes no representations or warranties regarding the results of the solar co-op Request for Proposal (RFP) process, and makes no guarantees to the performance of the company selected by the Selection Committee.
• This agreement is governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the internal laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to Conflicts of Law principles that require or permit application of the laws of any other state or jurisdiction.
• In the event of a dispute between you and SUN, the parties agree that the dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration administrated in the District of Columbia by the American Arbitration Association (AAA). You waive any right to pursue a class action and agree that any dispute to arbitrate must be brought in an individual capacity. The decision of the arbitrator shall be binding and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
