Boone County and Hamilton County Solar Co-ops select Jefferson Electric to serve groups
Solar United Neighbors (SUN) announced today that members of its Boone County and Hamilton County Solar Co-ops selected Indianapolis-based Jefferson Electric to install solar panels for the groups, which now include 46 total members. Co-op members selected Jefferson Electric through a competitive bidding process including six total companies submitting bids.
“The business generated by the co-op will help to boost the local economy as it recovers from the ongoing effects of the pandemic,” said Zach Schalk, Indiana program director for SUN. “Co-op members should not only feel good about taking control of their energy production and enjoying long-term cost savings—they should also be proud to be contributing to Indiana’s economic recovery.”
Solar co-op members selected local installer Jefferson Electric for their high-quality equipment and warrantee offerings.
“I joined the solar co-op to learn more about the process for installing solar at my house, and to also get a better idea of what it would cost,” said co-op member Eliana Armstrong of Zionsville. “The solar co-op has been very helpful by providing webinars and other resources to make the whole process easy.”
Armstrong served on the committee of co-op members who volunteered to review bids and choose an installer for the groups. “I found that our discussion during the selection process was extremely helpful in better understanding the features offered by the different vendors, as well as the different costs and options that are available,” she said.
“It is an honor to be selected because we know how thoroughly the co-op reviewed each company’s proposal,” said Max Kennerk for Jefferson Electric. “We’ve worked hard to build our reputation and spread the love of clean energy and energy independence in Indiana. We are ecstatic to help more Hoosiers go solar by providing them with an amazing customer experience through these co-ops.”
Homeowners and small businesses living in and around Boone and Hamilton counties can sign up to join the groups on the Solar United Neighbors website.
The solar co-op is free to join and joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Jefferson Electric will provide each co-op member with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, members can save on the cost of going solar with the support of fellow group members and solar experts at SUN.
