Imagine walking into a solar company’s office with 20+ of your neighbors and saying, “We all want to get solar. What kind of deal can you give us?” That’s a solar co-op!

A Neighbors Co-op is a group of neighbors who team up to learn together and support each other throughout the process of installing solar on their home. It’s free to join, member-driven, and designed to make the process of installing residential solar easier and more affordable. Neighbors Co-ops are led by local community leaders and supported by Solar United Neighbors. Co-op members receive support before, during, and after installing solar and have access to SUN’s unbiased resources and expert staff.

South Providence is a historic and diverse region of Providence RI, the capital city of the Ocean State. South Providence consists of the following neighborhoods: Upper South Providence, Lower South Providence, Washington Park, Elmwood and Reservoir Triangle.

The South Providence Neighbors Co-op is a way for neighbors to create trust, health and wealth in their community by going solar. The Co-op is tasked with being a representative, impartial and apolitical source of technical information. This group also allows members to share experience and receive support to maximize the positive impact that solar energy technology can have, especially for those traditionally disenfranchised from energy freedom: people of color, the poor, the differently abled and immigrants.

Early Co-op meetings and events will take place at Diego’s home on Adelaide Ave and/or at the Knight Memorial Library as the group grows.
