Over 2,000 Colorado Homeowners Join Switch Together to Go Solar

Across Colorado’s Front Range, a growing number of homeowners are teaming up to make the switch to solar energy through Switch Together – a group buying program for rooftop solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle chargers. This spring’s program has already surpassed 2,177 registrations, and nearly 600 of those households are already advancing to consultations with program-vetted solar installers.
Homeowners throughout Boulder County, Denver, and surrounding Front Range communities are eligible to participate—and there’s never been a more critical time to join. Right now, qualifying homeowners can claim a federal solar tax credit worth 30% of their installation costs, potentially saving thousands of dollars—but this may be your best and final chance to secure these benefits. In the spring of this year, the House passed a bill that would repeal this tax credit for homeowners installing solar after 2025. As of June this year, the bill is up for debate in the Senate.

A proven model for going solar, Switch Together is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: by going solar as a group, homeowners can access better pricing, high-quality installations, and expert guidance at every step. Since 2023, the program has helped more than 2,240 households go solar across Colorado. On average, participants can achieve up to 20% savings on solar installations thanks to competitively negotiated group pricing. Joining Switch Together does not obligate you to go solar.
How does it work?
The program organizes a reverse auction where qualified installers compete to offer their most competitive prices. This ensures participants receive a discount on a high-quality solar installation. The most recent Switch Together auction secured an average discount of $5,135 per participating household.
Glowing reviews from past participants
For many families, Switch Together has been the spark that made solar feel both achievable and worthwhile. Last year’s participants share their experiences:
Justin and Rebecca from Longmont found the program gave them the confidence to move forward: “Going solar was a great way to reduce our carbon footprint, and it made sense financially too,” they said. “The resources and support were great, and the selected contractors were absolutely fantastic. This program was the nudge we needed to make the decision to go solar.”
Denver resident Jeff Shelton praised the smooth installation process: “Work was performed professionally. Communication was good throughout the entire process,” he said. “I am pleased with my decision and the result.”

For Broomfield resident Peggy Pingel, Switch Together solved her biggest concern about finding trustworthy installers: “We never would have achieved solar if it wasn’t for this program,” she explained. “My biggest concern was finding a reputable installer and folks who would give me the straight story about the benefits and possible negatives of an installation,” she shared. “Through this program, I had peace of mind.”
These experiences echo across dozens of Colorado communities. Homeowners appreciate the confidence and security that comes with group-negotiated pricing and unbiased technical support, especially in a state that sees more than 300 days of sunshine each year and boasts some of the most solar-friendly policies in the nation.
A local effort with a statewide impact
While this year’s Switch Together campaign continues to grow, outreach across the Front Range remains a key focus. We know there are thousands of homeowners throughout Denver, Boulder County, and surrounding areas who are ready to go solar. For those who qualify for the federal tax credit, 2025 represents their best opportunity to secure both group-buy savings and the 30% federal incentive before potential policy changes.

Time to join the movement
There’s still time to be part of this growing movement. The current Switch Together campaign in Colorado is open until June 18, 2025. Join now to explore your options, attend an info session, and get help reviewing your personalized solar proposals. For those who hope to maximize their potential tax savings, registering soon enough to complete installation by year-end offers the best chance while the credit remains available.
