Shannon Anderson
As Distributed Power Plant Policy Director, Shannon supports SUN’s efforts to advance adoption of distributed power plants (DPPs for short, also known as Virtual Power Plants) around the country in a way that ensures consumer protections, equitable participation, and fair compensation for solar owners. Shannon’s passionate about organizing solar homeowners, farms, and businesses to build a distributed, dynamic, resilient, and equitable electric grid. Prior to joining SUN, Shannon worked as Organizing Director and Staff Attorney at the Powder River Basin Resource Council where she led strategic issue-based policy and state legislative campaigns mobilizing Resource Council members to address the impacts of fossil fuels on people and places in Wyoming, as well as to advance renewable energy solutions. Shannon is a graduate of Grinnell College, and she received her J.D., cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2005. Shannon works out of a solar-powered home office in her hometown of Sheridan, Wyoming with her dog Scooby, and she spends her free-time photographing flowers, enjoying the beauty and solace of our nation’s amazing public lands, and supporting her local library by chairing the Sheridan County Library Foundation Board of Directors.
