Indiana Non-Profit Solar 101: Huntington City

July 25 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Huntington, IN

Are you a faith leader looking for ways to expand the ministry at your house of worship? Or do you work for a non-profit that is seeking to save money to lower operating costs? Join us at the Huntington City-Township Public Library in Huntington, Indiana.

We’ll take you through how your church, synagogue, faith based organization, or non-profit can go solar for your building by utilizing federal incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act and other financing options.

This workshop is led by Christine Glaser, Indiana Policy Coordinator at Faith in Place, Jalisa Mauldin, Indiana Outreach Coordinator, Kathryn Lisinicchia, Huntington resident and Resiliency Coordinator with Earth Charter Indiana, and Brian Flory, a former congregational pastor in Fort Wayne who now works for Solar United Neighbors, a national non-profit organization.

You will learn about Direct Pay, the 30% (or higher) tax credit that houses of worship and other non-profits can now claim from the IRS when they install solar panels or batteries on their property. With Direct Pay the IRS will refund 30% (or more) of your costs of installing solar panels or batteries after they have been put into service. You will hear about eligibility requirements for Direct Pay, what investments qualify, the steps you need to take to receive Direct Pay, and how long it could take to receive the refund from the IRS.

We will also share about the Thriving Faith Communities program that Faith in Place offers for houses of worship that want to save energy and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.  Join us for a discussion about monthly coaching, peer support, access to a resource bank, and quarterly meetings with experts – all free resources offered to members of the Thriving Faith Communities program. If your faith community has goals of saving money on energy costs, pursuing energy upgrades, or making steps towards clean energy at your house of worship join Faith in Place’s Thriving Faith Communities (TFC) program.

You’ll also learn about Solar United Neighbor’s ‘Ready, Set, Solar (RSS) for non-profits‘ program. This program is free to join. Participants are *not* obligated to purchase a solar array or apply for a tax id for the federal incentives.

RSS non-profit participants receive:
• a free review of your roof & property to see if solar panels will work for you
• one-on-one support for all your questions about going solar
• assistance with contacting solar installers for bids, then reviewing the bids you’ve received.

Find out more with no obligations. Bring your questions about solar and we’ll answer them! Please see below for the location and venue.

After sign up, Solar United Neighbors may contact you by email or phone with campaign updates and other offers of engagement. You can unsubscribe at any time.
