Join us for the release of our Virginia Electric Cooperative Governance Scorecard with a goal of bringing democracy back to electric co-ops in the state. Electric cooperative member-owners will share stories about the problems at their co-ops.  And, we will release the scorecard, which grades electric co-ops on transparency and governance including co-op board elections and more. We will review scores for the thirteen Virginia electric co-ops compared to two nationally leading co-ops. We’ll discuss how we can increase transparency and member-owner governance at electric cooperatives in Virginia. The scorecard is a collaboration between Repower REC, SVEC Check, Appalachian Voices, Piedmont Environmental Council, Solar United Neighbors, Virginia Organizing, & Virginia Sierra Club.
