What is happening
People across the Commonwealth want to go solar. But, monopoly utility, Dominion Energy, won’t let them.
Dominion Energy is slowing down solar
Going solar isn’t quite as easy as flipping a switch. The utility needs to give approval before the solar savings can start.
As a result, Dominion Energy is blocking more than 50 solar projects on schools, churches, community organizations, and businesses across the Commonwealth. It’s doing the same to individuals who have solar panels just sitting on their roofs.
It’s time to speed Dominion up
Virginia regulations require Dominion to approve solar installations:
- within 30 days for residential systems
- within 60 days for non-residential systems.
But, the state doesn’t penalize Dominion for taking too long to approve solar. So, Dominion just keeps the clock running.
